AT DELPHI

  • Completed numerous projects for all major car manufacturers involving Design, Development and Analysis of Powertrain Mounts.
  • Developed new and improved technique for analyzing hydraulic mounts for dynamic stiffness & damping characteristics incorporating the effect of bulge in the elastomer due to fluid pressure.
  • Currently involved in rolling out customized first order CAE tools within the division, for Designers and Product Engineers.
  • Was actively involved in a project funded by NIST – “Enabling Technologies for Lean Manufacturing of Critically hardened Steel Application”. Responsibilities include identifying the need / requirements, help implement, test and validate the product and process.
  • Completed numerous projects involving optimization of various Chassis Components for mass reduction / cost savings.

AT TECUMSEH PRODUCTS

  • Involved in design and development of a cam to deactivate a piston in a multi cylinder reciprocating compressor by reversing the direction of rotation of the crank shaft.
  • Stability analysis done to relocate the center of mass of the reversing cam mechanism to move the mechanism to a region of stable equilibrium in meta-stable system.
  • Computer codes were written in MATLAB for optimization of mass and location of center of mass and for the stability analysis.
  • Bearing Analysis to determine the oil film pressure distribution for various angular positions of oil feed on the journal for two cylinder reciprocating compressor.

AT WRIGHT STATE UNIVERSITY

  • Performed dynamic (vibration) analysis on various structural components.
  • Obtained mode shapes of a bladed disk assembly using finite element methods (ANSYS).
  • Setup and maintained equipments in the Vibrations and Fluid dynamics lab such as the Fourier Analyzers, Impulse hammers, Vibration exciters, Accelerometers, Waveform generators, Pumps, Blowers, Wind tunnels.
  • Extensive research work on “Free response of bladed disk assemblies to mistuning”.
  • Developed finite element models using ANSYS to carryout static and dynamic analysis.
  • Was teaching assistant for the following graduate level courses : Computational methods for structural dynamics (ME710), Advanced finite elements (ME712), Finite elements (ME612), Mechanical Vibrations (ME660) & Fluid Dynamics (Under Graduate level).

AT SOUTHERN PETROCHEMICALS, INDIA

  • Complete annual turn around inspection of the Engine Compressor (Cooper Energy Services, USA) unit of ammonia plant at Deepak Fertilizers and Petrochemicals Ltd., India.
  • Refurbishment and Commissioning of 13 stage BFW (Shin Nippon Machinery, Japan) pump.
  • Annual turn around inspection of CO2 booster compressor (Kawasaki, Japan) and drive turbine (4.5 MW, Mitsui Brown Boveri, Japan) at SPIC, India.
  • Annual turn around inspection of various rotating machines at SPIC, Tuticorin plant in 1995 & 1996.
  • Health Study of various rotating machines of Hydrogen plant, ISRO, LPSC.
